Matthew Lillard's 'Fat Kid Rules The World' Filmed In Renton, Premiers At SIFF Opening Night

SIFF-Renton Premier and Gala draws more than 500 to downtown.

Hollywood wasn’t interested in a movie with a message, but actor-turned director Matthew Lillard was. You know, that guy in Scream, Scooby-Doo and most recently The Descendants? “Hollywood just didn’t get it,” Lillard said of Fat Kid Rules the World. Dancing Words: Issaquah Dance Teacher is Bringing Ballet to Bookshelves

Miriam Wenger-Landis' two ballet-themed novels are helping to create a new genre for an untapped market.

A few years after Issaquah Dance Theatre instructor Miriam Wenger-Landis’ career as a professional ballerina came to an end she looked back on what had been an intense, complex experience and decided that it would make for an interesting story, one that could enlighten and inspire young readers and aspiring dancers. That story became Girl in Motion, a fictional tale about a young girl’s experiences at a New York dance school. Published in 2010, Girl in Motion was the realization of a dream for Wenger-Landis and an early entry in the burgeoning genre of dance-themed fiction.  Now Wenger-Landis has published a second book, Breaking Pointe, a continuation of young dancer Anna Linado’s adventures in the highly competitive and complicated world…

Microsoft Announces Nov. 6 Halo 4 Launch Date

The latest version of the game developed by Kirkland's 343 Industries will come out on the same day as the presidential election.

Microsoft will launch Halo 4, the latest version of its popular, especially with teens, Xbox 360 video game—developed by 343 Industries in Kirkland—on Nov. 6. Yes, that is the same day as the presidential election. Microsoft announced the curious launch date this week, generating many conspiracy theories, according to the tech news web site GeekWire.
