Makers Among Us......Artists of Sammamish & Issaquah

Meet Arlon Rosenoff. He is the real deal, an artist whose first memories as a young child are memories of drawing.

Meet Arlon Rosenoff.

He is the real deal, an artist whose first memories as a young child are memories of drawing.  He grew up exploring family farms and the outdoors in Colorado and Montana. Capturing places and objects of affection in drawings has been part of his daily life.  Painting is fundamental to the way Arlon Rosenoff  experiences and appreciates life.

“Everywhere I look, I see a painting”, he says. “ I have a great appreciation for the light, texture, and geometry that occur in nature and in life. All places, people, and things have inherent beauty. A rustic old truck, desolate place, or busy main street can emit peace, beauty, and a sense of place. Capturing the light, texture, and geometry of everyday life is my artistic ambition.”

Arlon paints with a palette knife because it gives him the opportunity to interact with paint in a very tactile, expressionistic way.  Each viewer of his art is able to gain a strong sense of his physical interaction with the paint, with each stroke and manipulation visible forever.  Because he is a frequent demonstration artist at art fairs and arts events, the way he works  and the quality of his technique is shared
with those who linger to appreciate.  Arlon will be showing both his finished works and doing demos throughout the upcoming Sammamish Arts Fair, October 13th and 14th

His work is reflective of a balance and tension between old and new. A love of impressionism and representationalism yet a desire to explore contemporary themes creates transitional work. He produces both small works/studies and larger exhibition and gallery sized works that represent the forefront of his work direction.  Arlon owns and operates his own studio gallery in Kirkland which was featured in a recent issue of American Art Collector Magazine, among a number of publications showcasing his paintings. His works are in private collections all over the United States. “Both established collectors and new patrons will find work in my portfolio that suits them.”

Artists like Arlon enrich the community and encourage us to value one-of –a-kind artistry.  His skill is a testament to creative mastery  as well as the continued growth of an engaging artist. He is poised with paint and palette to show you the light.

See Arlon Rosenoff at the 6th Annual Sammamish Arts Fair and at his website, www.arlonrosenoff.com and http://sammamishartsfair.wordpress.com/

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend

Agreed Mark, Much as this solution seems crazy, some things are worth paying for (law and order, aRead More decent safety net, good schools and yes roads). I do blame the tax hawks though. Washington already has a relatively regressive tax structure. The "choke the government" solution seems carried way too far.

I thank the author for his well thought out arguments regarding these important transportationRead More issues in Washington state. While I believe some of the ideas presented are debatable, for example I believe that a vital and well used transit system ought to be part of our congestion relief plan in metropolitan areas, the lack of realistic funding options for this system cannot be ignored. However, our legislature (both parties included) seems to place a higher priority on "no new taxes" than creating a sustainable future for the state in many areas, including the transportation system. More than that, though, we live in a state whose citizens have varied interests and priorities. Most of all, we need our government to set priorities so that citizen interests and needs can be reasonably served. It seems we are pretending that we can base tax policies and tax rates exclusively on individual self-interest, as is often the consequence "no new taxes" scheme (e.g. if I don't get a direct benefit for myself, I won't support paying for it). This seems to me to be as much a part of this problem as current transportation system priorities.

It gets worse folks. I was part of a selected focus group a few weeks ago of people who live alongRead More I-405 conducted by a well-known marketing research firm and paid for by WSDOT. They are considering options that would charge commuters to use a new lane on I-405 & charge for the existing carpool lane too (even if you have two people in the car!)
