Meet June Casper.

The folds of colored silk are what first capture your attention.  Her work in fiber arts is all about color, primarily the interaction of dye pigments on silk, though she uses many other materials, including wood and various fibers. As June Casper says, the work takes her along for the ride: “I try to keep designs simple, and often work on more than one project at time, sometimes using the same colors for masks or art pieces as for kimonos or scarves.”

Her inspiration comes from every possible source, - nature, other artists work, exhibitions, movies, and fashion. Often, the silk itself is the inspiration and determines the design.

Every aspect of June`s work is original, from the design to the cutting, sewing, fastenings, and framing.  “I’m working to produce something that I haven’t seen before, and maybe others will also like it.”

The work of this Issaquah maker will be available at the Sammamish Arts Fair, October 13th and 14th, 2012.  June will infuse the event with color just in case the weather decides on a gray tone backdrop.  Her work and Arts Fair details can be found at http://sammamishartsfair.wordpress.com/
