Sammamish Nights - Friday Aug. 12

Help fill balloons Friday afternoon for this event. Great opportunities for teens. Must be able to take directions and be willing to stay focused on task. Contact Gail Michelman at 425.898.0770 or gstacymichelman@aol.com to sign up.

Sammamish Days – Saturday Aug. 13

Sammamish Days is coming up again on Aug. 13. This year we have also added a Kid Parade. The roles for volunteers are listed below:

Set Up Volunteers – perfect for early risers. Learn the behind the scenes actions and what it takes to open and event. There is much heavy lifting in this role as you will be setting up tents and tables, helping to carry items to their correct location and helping the vendors and sponsors set up. Shift is from 8-10 a.m.

Parking Volunteers – Two hour shifts to help direct traffic away from city hall garage and lower area parking. This volunteer will be asked a lot of questions and must have an outgoing personality and understand that some of those joining us for this event might be slightly upset that the parking is at . Ideally we will have at least two people per shift. Shifts are from 9-11 a.m.: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 1-3 p.m. Perfect for a couple or good friends.

Clean Up – most important of all! We are all tired after a big event, and the cleanup crew members are the heroes to staff and lead volunteers. Come in at 3 p.m. to help take down the booths, tables and chairs; encourage the vendors to move on; help sponsors to pack up and turn the plaza back to normal. Shift is from 3-5 p.m. or when done (usually not quite that long). The perk for this position is that our vendors usually have extra food to give away.

All volunteers get VIP parking passes, or at least your early arrival will guarantee you a spot a Mary, Queen of Peace.  We will feed you and give you a lovely event t-shirt. You get the satisfaction of knowing that you are a part of bringing this event to the community.

Volunteer orientation is scheduled for Thursday Aug. 11 at 6p.m., .

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
