'Hits for Sandy Hook Elementary' Benefit Slated for Saturday, Jan. 19

On Friday Dec. 14, we as a Nation had our hearts broken, when 20 beautiful children and 6 loving school employees, lost their lives, in a senseless act of violence.

The town of Newtown Connecticut will never be the same after this tragic event.  Although this happened thousands of miles away, it could have happened anywhere. One local resident recently spoke to some of the people in Newtown, they are trying hard to rebuild their lives.

Not only were the immediate family members impacted, but first responders, the survivors at the school, towns people, and members media as well.  It is time to step up and help these people rebuild their lives and give what we can to help in the process.  Therefore, a local group is  coming together and inviting you to attend a fundraiser, where 100 percent of the proceeds raised will go to a fund to help those most affected by this tragedy.

The benefit will be held at Field of Champions  from 4-9 pm, at 8118 304th Ave SE, in Preston, on Saturday, January 19th and show your support.

This will be a time for our kids to take part in hitting, fielding, throwing the ball around with other supportive kids and adults.  A time for adults to come together and do what we can to ensure the safety of our children.  A time to help those who so deeply need it, start the healing process, and most of all, a time to stand up as a community and do the right thing.

There will be some fun surprises and some special guests, but that’s not why you should join us.  You should join us, because you are the Northwest and you care!   Please contact the Field of Champions Indoor Facility Facebook page with any questions.  Feel free to forward this information to your friends and neighbors.

If you can't make it, you can send donations made to either, "The Sandy Hook Elementary Victims Relief Fund, or The Newtown Memorial Fund, directly to Field of Champions Training Facility at 8118 304th Ave SE Preston, WA 98050.

Thank you all so much for taking part, together we can make a difference!

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
