Seattle Sun Tan Announces Acquisition of Desert Sun Tanning Salons

Seattle Sun Tan, Seattle’s premier tanning destination, announces the acquisition of the Desert Sun Tanning Salons franchise system. With 34 Seattle Sun Tan locations throughout the Puget Sound and 60 Desert Sun locations in Washington state, Seattle Sun Tan will become the fourth largest tanning salon operator in the U.S. with just under 100 locations.

“When we opened the first Seattle Sun Tan location in 2004, we had an outstanding response from our customers and set a goal of expanding to 12 locations by 2012. We have surpassed that number by nearly eightfold with the Desert Sun acquisition,” explained Seattle Sun Tan Founder Scott Swerland. “Seattle Sun Tan’s mantra of providing state-of-the-art equipment and excellent customer service has allowed for this success, and we are thrilled to bring Desert Sun under our umbrella.”

Prior to its acquisition by Seattle Sun Tan, Desert Sun was owned and operated by Palm Beach Tan, Inc., based in Dallas, Texas. Swerland will continue to run all franchised Desert Sun locations under the Desert Sun brand, including the Sammamish/Issaquah location, with the eventual goal of continuing to expand both Desert Sun and Seattle Sun Tan in Washington state and beyond.

The Seattle Sun Tan brand was created with the goal of offering an unparalleled tanning experience by providing first-class facilities with cutting-edge design, sincere customer service, premium skin care choices and customer education on the health benefits of responsible tanning. The Seattle Sun Tan concept has received rave reviews for its hospital cleanliness, Smart Tan certified staff, five levels of tanning and a wide array of premium skin care choices, many of which will eventually be offered at Desert Sun locations.

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
