Timber Ridge At Talus Receives Excellence Award

Timber Ridge at Talus was honored today during the King County Healthcare Coalition Forum held at Seattle City Hall for their creative fire and earthquake survival training videos for staff and residents of nursing and retirement communities.  Joining forces with members of Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) and Fire Station 72 to script, film, and produce a three-part DVD training series and facilitator toolkit, Timber Ridge at Talus received the “Excellence In Innovation” award.

The videos that took nearly six months to complete provide general safety guidelines and scenarios: Drop, Cover, and Hold techniques, fire extinguisher demonstrations, and defend-in-place strategies.  In Timber Ridge’s training delivery, personnel from EF&R added realism by using a smoke machine to imitate a fire in a health center room as staff demonstrated correct procedures during emergency situations.

Effective emergency response begins with relationship building between community and local emergency response agencies.  Congratulations to Timber Ridge at Talus for their vision and collaboration on these fire and earthquake safety videos.

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
