Simple Measures Concert in Sammamish!

Did you know!

Mr. Krishnaswami plays on a magnificent and historically important cello by J.B. Guadagnini, the “ex-Davidoff", made in 1780.

Mr. Salman is a Master Steinway Pianist and is provided a Steinway Grand Piano whenever he plays in concert!

Since 2008 the Sammamish Arts Commission has been so delighted to bring Simple Measures to perform in Sammamish!
Simple Measures is an innovative chamber music series in the Puget Sound area which breaks down the “fourth wall” between audience and performers, and involves the audience in a musical discovery in which no foreknowledge is required, and you can just sit back and enjoy the show.  OR, you can participate and ask questions! Either way it’s a fun time.

The Krishnaswami-Salman Duo, with Rajan Krishnaswami on cello and Mark Salman on piano, will perform a concert which will consist of French music on the first half, with the main work to be the delightfully playful sonata by Francis Poulenc, which is reminiscent of French cabaret music with American Jazz influences.  On the second half will be the sonata by German composer Richard Strauss.  This is an early work of Strauss, exhibiting youthful exuberance and unbridled enthusiasm in the style of the 19th century Romantic period.
