Meet Miller, a loving 1-year-old yellow lab mix who recently overcame two skin infections and is ready for his "forever home."
This pup arrived at Redmond-based Motley Zoo Animal Rescue suffering from two skin infections that caused his fur to fall out. He is now healthy and looking for a loving home.
Miller is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your $375 adoption donation goes toward his veterinary expenses and other general care costs.
Notes from Miller's foster home: Giving the wettest and fattest kisses to those he loves most, it is easy to see how much Miller loves his people. Whether they're headed out on a walk or just loading into the truck to go for a ride, Miller never objects. He wants nothing more than to spend time with his people, he is very loving.
Miller is a happy guy who has a new lease on life! His quiet nature has made his adjustment from the shelter an easy one. Although Miller is shy around men, he warms up quickly and falls in love fast! Give him a treat and he'll be sure to sit, shake with either paw and 'watch me' (keeping eye contact). Miller also knows "go lay down," the cue that he must first be on his bed in order to get his dinner. Nowdays he automatically sits for food without a command and he waits patiently at the door for his foster because he knows that is expected. As you can tell, Miller is a smart boy who wants to please—the perfect combination for obedience training!
Miller's energy level is great! Now that his health issues have resolved, he's ready to go. He loves his walks, jogs, training time, and he LOVES to go on bike rides. He currently runs beside his foster while she goes for a bike ride daily, and he has a great time! When he arrived at his foster's house, he was extremely underweight, and he had a hard time just walking more than a quarter of a mile—what a difference! His fur is also almost all grown in and now his foster can tell that he has a white patch on his chest. His skin is all healed and healthy, no redness and lots of good hair coming in. He is literally one of the prettiest dogs, his foster gets compliments all the time on his color when out on his walks.
Miller's leash manners are fabulous, rarely pulling and always listening to his walker. Miller will greet other dogs happily, but strangers make him a bit leery. His foster just uses his food motivation to their advantage, and Miller becomes easy for strangers to win over! Miller also enjoys going for a car ride—really, this guy is up for anything! When greeting other dogs, Miller wants nothing more than to wrestle. His play style is a bit rough so he would love to live with another big dog who also enjoys wrestling as his play partner should be willing to tolerate his play style but who will also be assertive enough to let him know when he is being too rough.
Miller is crate trained and extremely quiet. He loves his bed, his toys and he really loves his chewies! Miller is respectful of other household pets, but should not live with birds as he is very curious and loves to chase things that run from him (so dog-savvy cats who don't run are also best). Miller will "take himself for a walk" with his leash and, if possible, he will also take his foster brother for a walk as well. His love for life is obvious as he trots along near his people while on the go with his leash in his mouth! Miller also LOVES sprinklers—his foster has discovered that he could spend hours entertaining himself with an automatic sprinkler! This lovable guy has had a rough start to life and will be one of those grateful dogs who is forever loyal and loving—will you be the one to provide a forever home to this deserving good boy?
