Adopt This Pet: Mutley the Lab Mix

Motley Zoo Rescue is looking for Mutley's "forever home" - he needs some extra love, too.

This Adopt This Pet column is a little different. Mutley is looking for a "forever home." But he is also looking for a foster home that can take care of him until he can find his real home. His story is one that has to be told.

This 1-year-old neutered male lab mix was a stray in Taiwan, a place sadly filled with homeless dogs. After surviving two car accidents, Mutley found himself in a vet clinic in Taiwan. He lived at the clinic for five months but has now recovered. He is in a foster home in Taiwan, waiting for transport to the United States and to the loving care of Motley Zoo.

Notes from Mutley’s Foster Home in Taiwan: Mutley is being fostered with four other dogs while he awaits his travel arrangements to the United States. Mutley is adapting really well to living in a home and has been socializing very well with the other dogs. He pulls a little on the leash but is making good progress. He is still young, so he really enjoys playing with other dogs and being a puppy. When he becomes "too much" for the older dogs and they give him warning signals, he responds well to them. Although Muttley had three broken legs, he doesn't let that stop him. When he gets tired, he'll lift his back leg a little more, but generally his previous injuries seem to affect him very little. He is good about food and shares well with others (not having food aggression issues). He is a happy dog who is excited to find his forever family in the United States!

Notes about adopting: All potential adopters fill out an application, are interviewed and have the opportunity to visit the dogs. Fees depend on the veterinarian care that has been given. All adoptable pets have vaccinations and are spayed, neutered, microchipped and flea-treated. Many have dental work done if they are older. Motley Zoo is always looking for foster homes. Fostering is a great way to "test out" your family to see if you are ready for a permanent pet.
