Adopt This Pet: Smokey the cat

This gorgeous domestic/persian mix needs his forever home.

Smokey is a five-year-old male, long-haired cat, who would love to share his life with you. Don't let the age scare you away. Medium and older-aged cats (and dogs) make great pets. They are more mellow and easy to fit into a family. They can be left home alone with no worries about damage. It is a myth that adult pets don't bond with a new family. Many people who adopt adult cats and dogs find that they connect to their new family in a very short period of time. They love attention and are almost grateful for being given a second chance at a happy life.

Smokey is no different. He would love to be in a permanent home that he could call his own. After being found abandoned in a trailer, Motley Zoo Animal Rescue took Smokey into its foster cat program. He is about 10 pounds and good with dogs. Right now, he doesn't live with cats, but with the correct introductions most cats can get along together. Smokey also enjoys children.

Notes from Smokey's Foster Home: Smokey is a very sweet boy! He is a snuggler and he seems to stay off the furniture, table and countertops. His foster has a silkie chicken who is nesting inside their home and he jumped into her enclosure but just for her water. Smokey was wary of his foster family at first, but he warmed up quickly and gets along with their two sons just fine. He tolerates being covered with blankets and being handled. He is a great family pet!

In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is based in Redmond but does not have an actual shelter. Instead, Motley Zoo has a group of dedicated foster families that take in the rescued dogs and cats until they can be adopted. See the Motley Zoo website for upcoming adoption events.
