Get Out: Sammamish Weekend Planner

This weekend, there's swing dance, a free Jim Page music event and EMP's SoundOff!, an all-ages music competition, in Seattle.

Sammamish residents, Thursday has rolled around yet again (that happens with the current calendar cycle). You might or might not have an idea of what you’ll do for the weekend.

Sammamish Patch is here with Get Out. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-get-me-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new establishments to explore.

Where/When: 7pm on Friday at the Sammamish Family YMCA gym.

Why Go: What better way to kick off your weekend then with a little swing dancing? You even get a free lesson before the dance.

Pricing: Admission is $5 (no charge for YMCA members).

Where/When: Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Why Go: Come root on Sammamish-area wrestlers as they compete at state.

Pricing: Day passes available for $11-$15; two-day passes available for $23.

Where/When: 8pm - 10pm on Friday at in Redmond.

Why Go: Sit back, relax and let the great Jim Page take care of the rest. His sound is almost James Taylor-esque. Here's a sneak peak (song starts around the 3:30 mark).

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: 6pm - 7pm on Friday at Bill the Butcher in Redmond.

Why Go: Come learn how Butcher and Chef Scott W. Molyneaux cut a whole lamb into all the cuts possible, including demonstration of techniques to use raw local ingredients to prepare braised lamb shanks, rolled lamb breast, and more.

Pricing: The demonstration is free but space is limited. Call 425-636-8901 to register.

Where/When: Saturday evening at the EMP in Seattle. Doors open at 7 pm.

Why Go: The Northwest's largest underage battle of the bands is coming to the EMP this Saturday. Come out and support local Sammamish band, Fit for Hounds.

Pricing: $10 for general admission; $7 for students and EMP/SFM members.
