If you're staying in the Sammamish area for the three-day weekend, have a look at some fun local things to do.

With the weekend weather in the Sammamish area expected to be in the high 70s and low 80s, it's easy to say these two words: Get Out!

As in: Enjoy the three-day weekend either indoors or outdoors. With the classes starting on Tuesday, students have a few more days until their brains kick into full gear in the classroom.

Classes in the  began this week. But hey, who dislikes a three-day weekend? So, in that light, here are some of our top picks of things to do in the Sammamish area. Have a great time.

High School Football in Sammamish

  • Where/When: The  Wolves take on Central Kitsap on Friday at 7 p.m. at Silverdale Stadium in Bremerton. The Spartans play Liberty on Friday at 7 p.m. It is a home game for the Spartans.  will host Cleveland on Friday at 7 p.m. at its campus in Sammamish.
  • Why Go:Weekend high school football in Sammamish is a tradition. There's the action, the last-minute touchdowns, the glory, the cheering and the drama.
  • Cost: Ask at each venue.

  • Where/When: The black-and-white photo show opens Friday and runs through Oct. 4. People can see the show each business day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Tacoma-based photographer and book artist Victoria Bjorklund captures images as reflected in windows in cities and finds inspiration from how people use words to describe the world around them. The Sammamish Arts Commission is sponsoring the exhibit.
  • Cost: Free

107.7 The End Summer Camp '11

  • Where/When: 2 p.m. Friday at
  • Why Go: Feeling like you didn't get enough outdoor music this summer? 107.7 The End's "Summer Camp" concert this Friday is a budget-friendly alternative to the full-fledged concert festival with a lineup of 10 artists for just $20. Billed as a "music discovery" event, the day-long show features established acts like Portland's Portugal, The Man in addition to up-and-comers like Indie pop-rock band The Givers.
  • Cost: $20 (before fees). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

2011 Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music and Arts Festival

  • Where/When: Saturday through Labor Day at Seattle Center
  • Why Go: Established in 1971, Bumbershoot takes place every year over Labor Day weekend and stretches across the 74-acre Seattle Center beneath the city’s iconic Space Needle. Bumbershoot programs 20 unique indoor and outdoor venues, allowing for a diverse array of arts including live music, comedy, theatre, dance, film, urban crafts, and literary and visual arts. Festival details are located at bumbershoot.org.
  • Cost: Tickets $29 to $475

Evergreen State Fair

  • When/Where: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds on Highway 2 in Monroe
  • Why Go: There's only a few days left to check out this year's Evergreen State Fair, which offers a little something for everyone. The kids will love the farm animals and carnival rides while adults can take in live music, arts and crafts vendors, and racing action on the speedway.
  • Cost: Base admission is $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and youth. Adults who are 90 or older and kids 5 and younger are free. Special discounted rates are available on Labor Day. Click here for more pricing details.
