Great Escape: See a Classic, 'Mary Poppins,' Live on Stage

Don't miss "Mary Poppins" in Seattle only through May 29.

In Seattle, we are so lucky to have the Broadway production of "Mary Poppins" show up on our doorstep - the doorstep of the Paramount Theatre that is. This spellbinding production has received rave reviews in New York from many who have seen it. Believe me, if you take your date to this, it will make a very good first impression!

Remember those days before VCRs and DVDs? I know it makes us all feel old that we vividly remember life without a button to see movie options, but it is true. When we were little, whatever was on TV was what we watched, right?  "Mary Poppins" was one of those great movies that many of us never have forgotten. Many children today have even seen it, so you know it has to be good!

You won't be disappointed by the musical either. "Mary" flying through the air over the audience, contemporary dance numbers and the unforgettable songs will stay in your memory long after the curtain closes.

Variety raves: "This is the rare touring production that overdelivers at every level." And according to the Seattle Theatre Group website where you  buy tickets, the New York Post gave it a 4 out of 4 stars and called it "a perfect piece of musical theatre."

Tickets are still available to purchase at the time of this writing. So, get online and check out the details. The Broadway production will only be in Seattle through May 29. Ticket prices vary from $20-$100 depending on day and time.

One discount is the student/senior rush. For people who are 62 years old and older, up to two $25 tickets can purchased for each identification shown. These tickets are sold one hour prior to show time. They are good for all performances except Saturday and Sunday matinees. Only cash is accepted for these tickets, which need to be bought at the box office.

I am sure you can tell I am a fan of getting people young and old, as well as in between, to experience a good musical or play. This week, I also could not resist spotlighting "Mary Poppins" because thanks to a generous gift from good ol' dad, my family and my dad are all going to see "Mary Poppins."

Thanks, Dad!
