Great Escape: Stroll Through a Quaint Village of Shops - in Issaquah

Discover interesting shops, unique offerings and delicious dining at Gilman Village.

Tired of the mall? High gas prices making you stick close to home? Look no furtherthan Issaquah to enjoy a visit to the quaint shops of Gilman Village.

As described in the Gilman Village website, the village was created by Marvin and Ruth Mohl in the 1970s. They saved unwanted buildings from the old farming and mining town of Issaquah. Each building was completely disassembled and reassembled to create Gilman Village. The idea was to establish an appealing shopping area in a park-like setting.

Today, Gilman Village houses over 40 shops and restaurants. So, grab a friend and lose yourself in the Village. Get a jump on your visit by first stopping by the Issaquah Coffee Co. Started in 2010, this coffee house offers superior coffee and a nice ambiance. After you get your fill, drop by White Horse Toys to see quality and unusual childrens' toys.

Stroll on over to Kitchen Cupboard for everything you could possibly want for your kitchen. Head to Aubreys Clock Gallery to see beautiful grandfather clocks and to check out their selection of watches and chess sets. Don't forget Daisy's or Serenity, just a few of the many shops that offer clothing and jewelry for women. (On June 11, Raven Bookstore will be opening their doors and adding to the variety of shops in Gilman Village).

Take a break from shopping to enjoy a delicious lunch. Choose from Afghan or Indian cuisine. Switch gears  and enjoy burgers and BBQ. Dim Sum, Italian, brunch  and Northwest cuisine will make the decision on where to eat a little bit challenging.
