Are you looking for a Day of Service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.? The Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank needs volunteers for its Day of Service project, as do other Eastside organizations.

If you are looking for a Day of Service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday will be observed as a federal holiday next Monday, there are several resources online that can help.

The Presidential Inauguration Committee has put together a list of service projects throughout the country. You can find several volunteer opportunities in Seattle, and this one in Issaquah:

Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank- Come Stock and Sort!, Saturday, Jan. 19.

The United Way of King County has a website that lists numerous Day of Service projects, including one at the Bellevue Family YMCA. The YMCA needs volunteers for its Day of Service project, as do other Eastside organizations, according to the United Way of King County.

The link to the project is here: Help the Y, Help Others

The project includes this in its description:

During this day of service, volunteer activities may include (but are not limited to); decorating, organizing training/recognition materials, reaching out to community members and informing them about our cause and campaign, and/or preparing the facility to invite members back from the MLK Jr. Holiday.

Other local service projects include:

Winter Blackberry Festival - Restoration in Redmond, Monday Jan. 21.

Forest Restoration at Westside Park in Redmond!, Monday Jan. 21.

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
