One Click: Weekend Guide from Sammamish Patch

Sammamish Patch has compiled many great, fun things to do this weekend.

It's here: Friday! And there are many things to do this weekend (and beginning on Friday afternoon) in the Sammamish area.

Here's a quick look in Sammamish Patch's guide to, well, guides. It's One Click.

Friends of Youth Lunch: If you read this in time, consider attending the social service agency's annual "Celebration of Youth" event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue from 11:30 am to 1 pm. If not, you can always visit the group's website to learn more. The group has offices in Redmond and Issaquah.

Some call it Sammamish's version of the "Oscars." It's the annual community service awards to honor people who have helped others and the community. It will be held Friday evening at Eastgate Church in Issaquah. Sammamish Patch is an event sponsor.

It's on Saturday evening. There will be dancing, too. Sammamish Patch is a chamber member.

Redmond Digital Arts Festival: This starts on Friday and continues on Saturday. Making movies, video games and animation will be the topics for tech fans of all ages. You can even make your own "digital double" by moving around in a special motion capture area.

Faith in Action: This group that helps seniors with independent living will hold its auction on Saturday evening at Mary, Queen of Peace Church. This auction helps support a large portion of the nonprofit's budget.

Jazz & Java: The jazz band and vocal jazz ensemble will perform twice on Saturday night - at 7 pm and 8:30 pm. Tickets: $10 for an adult and $8 for a student or senior. There will be java, of course.

First WA Robotics: At the Qwest Field Events Center in Seattle, there is a big robotics competition with teams (of humans) trying to get their players (the robots) to do the right things at the right moment. When Sammamish Patch checked the First WA website, the servers were having problems. GeekWire.com's Todd Bishop posted video and information about the event.

Great Escape: Like musicals? At Village Theatre in Issaquah, there's "Iron Curtain." It's a comedy.

Get Out: Sammamish Patch's regular features notes that there is swing dancing on Friday night at the Sammamish Family YMCA and that Bill the Butcher is going to have a celebration at its Redmond store on Saturday.

House Hunt: Even if the sky is gray, don't let that stop you from seeing open houses in Sammamish this weekend. Many are open on Sunday. Here are five that you can tour.

Grab & Go Kids Planner: Families can be busy, especially when it comes to that question: What to do? What to do? So, here are suggestions on fun things to do this weekend, including an arts craft event at the Bellevue Arts Museum on Saturday and a kids carnival at the Stroum Jewish Community Center on Sunday on Mercer Island.

Teens, Tweens: You and your tweens, teens might be able to take advantage of some of these great suggestions this weekend. Have a look.

Use the Force (if you like): The Pacific Science Center in Seattle is hosting a "Star Wars" art show, which opens Saturday. There will be costumes, props, including Darth Vader's dark suit and Luke Skywalker's landspeeder, the museum said.

Frugal Family: If you're out shopping, these tips might help. From Monday through Thursday, you can get 20 percent off a spa treatment at Salish. That's right.

Big Climb Seattle: You might be running up the Columbia Tower in Seattle on Sunday to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If not, head on out to see the crowds and athletes (some might be tired) and to cheer them on.
