One Click: Weekend Guide From Sammamish Patch

The weekend and Friday are chock-full of things to do in Sammamish and the area.

If you can believe it - and we, here at Sammamish Patch, do believe this to be true - but the weekend is back.

It's a bit of an early edition for One Click, the guide to all the weekend guides from Sammamish Patch. But that's because activities are happening beginning on Friday morning.

Which begs the question: Is anyone actually going to work on Friday?

Here's the rundown of what we've heard about:

Uwajimaya Bellevue: The store known for Asian foodstuff opens Friday at 11 am in a 35,000-square-foot building at 699 120th Ave. NE in Bellevue. The size is 50 percent larger than its old location in Bellevue. Here's a quick background story.

Used School Van Auction: Vehicle buffs, Friday is your day - if you're in the market for a used Chevrolet 22-person school van or a GMC step van. At 10 am, the Issaquah School District is holding an auction at its May Valley Service Center, 16430 SE May Valley Road, Renton. Bidding starts at $5,001.

Seattle Sounders FC: Seattle's soccer team plays at home on Friday at 7 pm against the Houston Dynamo.

"Hello Dolly" at Beaver Lake Middle School: Students at the Issaquah school, which is close to Sammamish, will star in this classic production on Friday and Saturday. Evening shows are at 7 pm. The Saturday matinee is at 2 pm. Tickets are $8 per person. Address: 25025 SE 32nd St., Issaquah.

Cruise on over to Bellevue to enjoy more than 70 different "bites" at Crossroads Bellevue on Friday (noon to 9:30 pm), Saturday (11 am to 9:30 pm) and Sunday (11 am to 5:30 pm). There will be live music and it's ideal for all family members.

March Madness: Enjoy all the excitement of the Sweet Sixteen of college basketball finals - all day on Friday. Where should you go to watch the games? We're glad we prompted that question - and answered it, too. Click the link for the answer.

Get Out: The regular Sammamish Patch weekend helper (yes, there are several) also notes that there's theater in Redmond and a music event in Seattle on Sunday.

Volunteer Gardening at Lower Commons Park: Join the Native Plant Society at this park, below City Hall, on Saturday from 9 am to noon. Volunteers are needed to weed and mulch. People under the ages of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult. Bring your tools, dress appropriately for gardening and don't forget work gloves. First-time volunteers need to fill out and bring this form. The event also fulfills community service requirements.

Skyline High School Baseball: The varsity team plays O'Dea on Saturday from 2:30 to 6 pm at .

Lake Sammamish Half Marathon: It starts Saturday morning with runners making their way from Issaquah along the Eastlake Sammamish Trail and then ending in Redmond. You cannot register on the race day. But you have until Friday at 10 am to do so.

Grab & Go Kids Planner: Some listed events have passed. But on Friday and Saturday evenings in Mercer Island, there's a Shumba concert of African Marimba at Youth Theatre Northwest.

Frugal Family: Sammamish families, there are many ways to save some money over the weekend. Have a look.

House Hunt: On Sunday, many houses for sale in Sammamish will be open to tour. Here are some of them.

Spring Break in Lake Washington School District: In a way, it will be a very long weekend for students as they enjoy no class from March 28 to April 1.

Tweens, Teens: If you're a family on spring break, there are places to hang out to have fun for everyone (yes, that means, parents, too -- but be prepared to stay in the background as the young people have fun on their own).

Continue to use the Force: The Star Wars art exhibit continues at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.
