One Click: Weekend Guide from Sammamish Patch

Sun, sun, sun + Saturday and Sunday = Weekend fun.

California once was so short on rain - and heavy on drought - for an extended period years ago that one person offered up this joke: A young kid looks up at the sky, feels something wet, realizes water is falling and asks, "Mommy, what's that?"

The parent replies: "That's rain."

It seems like with all the rain in the Seattle area from last year to this year, parents can finally point to the clear blue space above us and tell kids: "This is the sun. This is what I've been telling you about."

U2: The Irish rock band plays Seattle on Saturday evening. Catch clips from the past and more recent years on YouTube.

Parents Night Out: On Friday evening, the Sammamish Family YMCA will have carnival games for your kids. Parents can have, yes, a night out.

Marymoor Velodrome: There will be track bike racing on Friday evening at the park, near Redmond. You can sit on the grassy slope, enjoy a picnic and watch racers zip around the track.

Chateau Ste. Michelle: The winery in nearby Woodinville is scheduled to have a Happy Hour on Friday.

Trail Building Party: Yes, one is scheduled for Saturday at Evans Creek Preserve. Help build a place to enjoy in the near future.

Issaquah Triathlon: If you're not participating, come out and cheer those who are on Saturday. The event starts at Lake Sammamish State Park and goes through part of Sammamish - along East Lake Sammamish Parkway.

Tidepooling: Sammamish Patch's newest blogger, Val Serdy, offers up a fun post with details about where to go and what to do to explore area tidepools.

Poo Poo Point: In this week's Great Escape, there are details about this beautiful area you hike and watch paragliders. It's near Issaquah.

Middle Fork Trail: It's another place near Sammamish to go for a hike. Boy Scout Troop 751, which is also blogging on Sammamish Patch, was kind enough to suggest it to readers.

Komen Race for the Cure: The run and walk to help raise money to battle breast cancer takes place on Sunday in Seattle. Check Sammamish Patch on Saturday for a sports column by Heidi Dietrich about the run. Dietrich is the editor of Edmonds Patch.

House Hunt: Sunny weekends often bring potential homebuyers out. Here are houses you can tour this weekend in Sammamish.
