Patch Picks: There's Snow on the Ground on Thursday? Thoughts Turn to: What to do?

Sammamish Patch offers some great activities given the white stuff on the ground. It might stay for a day or two, too.

Patch Picks: Places to go when there's snow on the ground.

  • Sammamish Patch has heard that many residents like to hang out at their houses when winter weather conditions have set in. That's all good, as the saying goes. One twist (and it's just a suggestion): Go show up and hang out at your friend's house. Or how about a neighbor? Ask, though, before you knock.
  • The Summit at Snoqualmie can offer nearby skiing for Sammamish residents. On Thursday, Summit East was open. If you want to see how much of the white stuff The Summit has this week, have a look at these photographs.
  • is in the city and you can still get out of your house. On Thursday, there were limited hours of noon to 5 pm. If you want to go on Friday, it's best to call or check the King County Library System's website. Follow the link above to get one, the other or both.
  • One option is to head to . You can stroll inside, look at the shops and kids can go to the cushioned play area upstairs - it's the one with the big foam boats.
  • Another option, given Sammamish's location, is to strap on your snowshoes and trek at a city park. Remember, though, to check conditions and let others know where you're going if you're solo. For a list of city parks, go to the Sammamish Patch directory and, yes, type in "park."
