Play Date! Great Family Events and Deals in the Sammamish Area
Here are fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week.
EVENTS FOR FAMILIES, Aug. 10 – Aug. 17
Aug. 10: Free Activity for Kids at the Sammamish Farmers Market
- Kids activity this week is make your own door hanger. Enjoy live music from Charlie Spring. Learn more about the two featured non-profit organizations, theFriends of the Sammamish Library and the Seattle Humane Society.

Aug. 10 or 17: Farmer’s Market Writing Workshop for Teens at the

- 4:30 to 6 p.m.
- For teen writers age 13 and older. The is ripe with stories, symbolism, setting and suspense. Join other teen writers at the library, then search the market for inspiration and spend the rest of the program writing, sharing work and learning from each other. Bring a pen and notebook and a sack supper or bring money to purchase dinner at the market. Teens may participate in one of the two duplicate sessions offered on Aug. 10 and again on Aug. 17. Sponsored by the Sammamish Friends of the Library.
- Cost: Free but teens must pre-register.
Aug. 10: Toy Story 3 Showing at
- Seating open at 7 p.m., movies begin at dusk
- Bring the kids and blankets or low back chairs for an evening of great outdoor entertainment. Movies are shown on a 40-foot inflatable movie screen at MacNair Field, located in the center of . Popcorn and other food are available for purchase and outdoor food is permitted.

Aug. 13: Sammamish Days at the

- 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Enjoy a kids parade, food and entertainment from around the world. The kids parade starts at 10 a.m. at the and ends at Sammamish Commons. Participants must pre-register and pay a fee of $5 per individual or $50 per group to participate. More information and registration form available online.
- Cost: Fee to participate in the parade and for food and the entertainment is free
Aug. 16: Recess Monkey Concert at the
- Bring your lunch and kids to this concert with the nationally acclaimed Seattle children’s music band Recess Monkey.
- Noon to 1 p.m.
- Cost: Free
Aug. 27: Save the Date and Read the Book!
- Mother Daughter Book Club at the Sammamish Library will meet at 3 p.m. and discuss The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. For girls age ten to 13 and moms. Sponsored by the Friends of the Sammamish Library.
