Play Date! Great Family Events and Deals in the Sammamish Area
Here are fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week.
Aug. 24: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Showing at
- Seating opens at 7 p.m. and movies begin at dusk.
- Bring the kids and blankets or low back chairs for an evening of great outdoor entertainment. Movies are shown on a 40-foot inflatable movie screen at MacNair Field, located in the center of in Redmond. Popcorn and other food are available for purchase and outdoor food is permitted.
- Cost: $5
Aug. 25: Drop-in Basketball at the
- 5 to 8 p.m.
- Kids in grades three to eight
- Youth Basketball League coaches assist players in organizing drills, 3-on-3 games and pick up games
- This is a drop off activity and parents must sign a waiver and sign kids in and out. This is the last session for this program this summer.
- Cost: Free
Aug. 27: College Admissions 101 Seminar Presented by Collegewise at the Issaquah Library

- 10 to 11:30 a.m.
- Parents and teens will learn about what colleges are really looking for in the admissions process.
- Cost: Free
August 27: Mother Daughter Book Club at the
- 3 p.m.
- For girls age ten to 13 with moms. Meet and the library to enjoy snacks and discuss The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. Mothers may also read The Dressmaker of Khair Khana by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon as a supplement to the discussion, just for fun.
