Play Date! Great Family Events and Deals in the Sammamish Area

Here are fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week.

EVENTS FOR FAMILIES, May 18 – May 25

May 21: The Not-Its Concert at the

Two shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This is going to be a great event for Sammamish families sponsored by the Friends of the Sammamish Library. Meet Seattle’s rock band for the under age 10 crowd. Kids are invited to this super fun concert to dance and enjoy a great concert. This is not a drop off event and all children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Cost: Free! No pre-registration required but arrive early as seating may be limited.

May 21: Redmond’s  Presents a Doggy Fashion Parade at the 

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring your family to check out some wonderful dogs in search of new homes.  Teens will work with the Woodinville no-kill shelter  to walk and present shelter dogs in need of a home. The event will be held at the Redmond Senior Center during its annual Pet Fair.

May 21: Mother Daughter Book Club at the 

3 p.m.

This event is for girls ages 10 to 13 accompanied by their mothers. This month, the group discusses The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi. The group is open to all and meets monthly for lively book discussions and treats. Drop-ins are welcome and you can also contact Sara Jensen at sjensen@kcls.org to get on an email list of upcoming meeting dates and times and titles to read prior to the meeting.

Cost: Free!

May 24: Drop in Play at the

 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Adult caregivers and infants to five-year-olds can enjoy indoor play with a variety of toys, including climbing toys and scooter cars. This program is available every Tuesday and Thursday when the is in session. Great way to get out of the gray weather and meet other parents with young children. This is a drop-in program with no pre-registration required.

Cost: $3 per child. Children under the age of one year are free.

May 25: Open Up and Say HA! at the Sammamish Library

4 p.m.

For ages three years and older, Rick Huddle presents a laugh-filled hour of stories about expectations, getting teased and killer bees. Part concert, part theater, but mostly fun and games, this program will have parents and kids giggling together. 

Cost: Free

Deal: Half Price Bagels

If you share my New York City roots and have complained that there is not a decent bagel to be had west of Manhattan, try Blazing Bagels in Redmond near . In addition to their amazing-freshly baked bagels, they have many varieties of cream cheese including low fat, lox (my favorite) and veggie. Also check out the whole shelf of half priced pre-packaged “day olds.”
