Fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week.

EVENTS FOR FAMILIES, May 25 – June 1

May 25: Open Up and Say HA at the

4 to 5 p.m.

Kids age three and up with an adult caregiver will enjoy this hour of stories about killer bees and getting teased. It will feature music, fun and games that will have kids and parents laughing together.

May 25: Overview of Backyard Poultrykeeping at the

7 to 8 p.m.

Is your family contemplating acquiring a backyard chicken flock? Adults and teens are invited to this informative session on keeping poultry in your backyard. For people who are weighing the idea of keeping poultry in the backyard, this presentation will give a brief, general overview on some of the things to consider. It is a preview for the series of classes offered by Seattle Tilth.

May 27 to May 30: Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center

Folk Life Commons – 11:00 a.m. (starting time)

Don’t miss the 40th annual Folklife Festival, featuring fun family activities, great music and delicious food. There will be many kid activities at the Folk Life Commons located on the Broad Street Lawn, including making a wooden boat or puppet, watching trapeze artists in action or making a musical instrument and a bookmark.

Cost: Suggested donation - $10 per day or $20 per family.

May 30: Drop In Play at Kidz Bounce in the Preston Industrial Park

9:30 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Looking for something fun to do as a family on Memorial Day? For kids ages two to ten (or under two with older sibling) this is a great opportunity to have a super fun time jumping around in lots of bouncy houses, sliding and moving through challenging obstacle courses. This is not a drop off activity and an adult caregiver must supervise the child.

Located just a short distance from Sammamish via Interstate 90. Take Exit 22 (Fall City/Preston) to 8178 304th Ave. SE. Phone: 425-222-5439.

Cost: $6 per child, adult caregiver and kids under age two with an older sibling are free.

9 to 10 a.m.

Ditch the crowds by buying a KidsQuest membership and enjoy special members only play times at KidsQuest Children’s Museum every Tuesday and Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m..
