Play date! Great Family Events and Deals in the Sammamish Area

Fun activities and some sweet deals for the whole family this upcoming week.

EVENTS FOR FAMILIES, June 30 - July 6

June 29: Artist and Crafter week at the

4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The free kids’ activity today is vegetable animals. Kids make animals out of a variety of veggies. Live entertainment by Double Barrs and a presentation by the Robotics team.

June 29: Garden with Kids Education Program at the 

7 p.m. - 8 p.m.

This class is designed for adults to learn ways to make gardening fun and educational for children. Gardening is a great way to introduce children to nature. It also teaches kids skills they can use their whole lives. Adults will learn simple games and activities through which children can learn about science, nutrition and the environment.

Cost: Free

July 2: Nature Walk

2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Families meet with a ranger at the Visitor Center at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center and take a guided walk to learn about Bellevue’s largest wetland.

Cost: Free

July 4: Issaquah’s Down Home Fourth of July and Heritage Day

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

11 a.m. Kids and Pets parade. Bring your music and noise makers to Rainier Boulevard North (at the intersection of NW Dogwood and Front Street).  All participants on bikes must wear a helmet.  Register by July 1 using the registration form available online

Follow the Kids, Pets ‘n Pride Parade to Veteran’s Memorial Park, where an afternoon of fun activities awaits. Come and watch performers thrill you with their talents, test your balance in one-legged races, hop to the finish line in the sack races, bounce in the inflatables, try your hand at making butter or challenge your speed at the pie-eating contest.

July 4: Bellevue Family Fourth at the

2 p.m – 10:30 p.m.

Enjoy food, vendors, live entertainment and lots of kid activities at the Family Fun Zone including bouncy houses. Old fashion fun from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. including sack races, hula-hoops and bean bag toss.  Fireworks begin at 10:05 p.m.. 

Cost: Entertainment and some activities are free; some of the kids' activities have a fee.

Happy Hour at the Bellevue

Deal: Buy three cupcakes, get three free!

Call around 5:00 p.m. to see if they are running “Happy Hour” until closing when you can buy three and get three free of any of their amazing cupcakes. Dine in or take out.

Good through: Ongoing but you must call Cupcake Royale at 206-883-7656, extension 1, then 5, in the afternoon to see if they are running Happy Hour that day.

Fat Tuesday at the Issaquah Fatburger at 6220 East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast

Deal: $2.99 for a medium Fatburger all day long.

Good through: Ongoing every Tuesday. Limit four Fatburgers per customer and “add-ons” are extra.
