Nov. 16: Parent Workshop: Keep Your Kids Safe and Maintain Your Sanity During the Holidays at the KidsQuest Museum

  • 6 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Certified parent child safety educator Kim Estes of Savvy Parents, Safe Kids presents a workshop for parents on strategies on keeping the holidays safe and fun. Workshop will take place at the in

Nov. 17: Hike to Coal Creek Falls on Cougar Mountain with the Sammamish Family YMCA Hiking Club

  • 9:30 am to 1 pm
  • Moms get out while the kids are in school on a beautiful fall hike for adults with the Sammamish Family YMCA Hiking Club. Wear warm clothes and bring a daypack with a sack lunch, a water bottle and the ten essential emergency items for a day hike (list from REI here).
  • Meet at the upper parking lot by the Y’s entrance. A Y mini bus will leave at 9:30 am and return in the afternoon.
  • Cost: $5 if you are a Y member, $8 non-member. Free if you wish to provide your own transportation and meet the group at the trailhead.  Register at the YMCA or by phone 425 391-4940.

  • For ages three and up.  Must be potty trained. Open to non-members and members of My Gym Bellevue.
  • Enjoy a date night in Bellevue or get an early jump on holiday shopping. Your child will have a great time at My Gym meeting new friends and enjoying activities including games and play time in the gym, supervised by My Gym staff.  Pizza dinner included!

Nov 19: Mother Daughter Book Club at the Sammamish Library

  • 1 pm to 2 pm
  • For girls age 10 to 13 with moms. Meet and the to enjoy snacks and discuss Moon Over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool. This is a great way to connect with other moms of tween girls on the plateau and enjoy discussing the book, winner of the 2011 Newberry Medal award.

Nov. 21: Tunes and a Tale with Squirrel Butter at the Sammamish Library

  • Squirrel Butter is a musical duo performing traditional and original music influenced by Applalachian, early country, jugband and blues artists.  Squirrel Butter will combine the telling of Appalachian folk tale Sody Sallyratus with rip-roaring old-time tunes accompanied by a squirrel puppet.

Nov. 23: Thankful I’m Me! A Concert for Preschoolers at the Sammamish Library

  • 10 am to 11 am and 11 am to noon
  • For kids age two and older with an adult caretaker
  • Come sing and dance with Charlie Hope, winner of the Independent Music and Parent’s Silver Award. She will sing well-known children’s songs, as well as originals, all promoting positive messages about things relevant to young children. Hope has a degree in art therapy and incorporates elements of rhyme and storytelling to help children develop language skills with fun, interactive music.
