Please Welcome Sharon Tacon and Liv Finne, Patch's Newest Bloggers

Do you have an opinion, experience, or passion you'd like to share? We welcome you to blog about it on Patch through our Local Voices section.

This week Sammamish-Issaquah Patch welcomed two new bloggers, Sharon Tacon and Liv Finne.

Tacon, a native Seattleite who's called the Eastside home for the past two decades, formerly worked as a reference librarian in Bellevue.

Now she volunteers her time as a librarian in Hopelink's Adult Education Department. Her first post, 'Stamp Out Hunger' on May 11, is a shocking reminder that there's still plenty of poverty in the Pacific Northwest. Luckily there are opportunities to help. One such way to lend a hand is through 'Stamp Out Hunger.' Click here for more information.

Our other new blogger, Finne, is the Director for Education Reform at Washington Policy Center.

The center supports "reforms to give parents more choices, to give school principals more autonomy and reponsibility, to give teachers more freedom to teach, and to improve schools for children," she wrote.

In her first post, Washington Charter School Commission holds its first meeting, Finne wrote about the first gathering of the new nine-member state Charter School Commission, and noted that the deadline  is rapidly approaching for school districts to file applications to become charter school authorizers.
