Snow on the Ground, People (yes, Even Ones Made of Snow) in Action: Sammamish's Week in Review

Sammamish has a busy week, one in which lacrosse teams cleared snow from fields to play.

Another seven days have elapsed on the Plateau, and elsewhere in the world. At Sammamish Patch, we are happy for that fact because it enables us to roll out the Week in Review.

This Sunday's Week in Review also arrives on the same day in which the Oscars will be handed out. Sammamish Patch offers up an easy-to-ready list of the nominees and actually caught up on some of the best motion picture nominees.

Sammamish Patch just realized that True Grit was remade - but actually, um, remembers the one in which John Wayne starred. We did point out that time elapses, right?

Wednesday:The Seattle region waited for snow. Some had fallen on Sammamish. More, though, arrived at night. During the day, Sammamish Patch had news about the girls' basketball team and the end of the season. There also was the still-useful Frugal Family feature.

In terms of numbers, it was a big day, as the U.S. Census Bureau released detailed data about Sammamish and other cities.

Thursday: By early in the morning, there was an estimated 2 to 6 inches of snow on the ground. One resident said she received 5 inches of snow at her house. Sammamish Patch had its usual House Hunt and Viewfinder features - the latter of which had snow photos (from Wednesday, before the big storm).

Friday: The site's regular parenting feature runs each Wednesday. But, well, it was a busy week. So, this week's column ran on Friday and offers up a great suggestion for parents and kids to visit Olympia. Also, there was a Great Escape reminder that bowling has never gone out of style - especially in the way it's done in Bellevue and Kirkland.

The Sammamish police blotter included a report about an elementary school girl telling her teacher that her father had kicked her in the back. Authorities are investigating that allegation.

Saturday: Lacrosse teams had cleared fields on the Plateau for a big preseason jamboree in the snow. There was word, from Friday night, that the Skyline High School girls' basketball team lost in their playoff bid. Of course, people were waiting for the Oscars.
