Update Dec. 31: Kaya the chihuahua/Italian greyhound mix has been found after she disappeared Dec. 22, according to owner Rob Larson.

Good news! Kaya has been found and returned to our home. A good samaritan spotted her on Paradise Lake Road near 522 and followed her. She called us because Kaya would not come to her, but before we could get to her location, Kaya finally went to her. We're so thankful for the woman who found her, stayed with her and brought her back to our family. Kaya was very cold and much skinnier, but in good shape considering that she was missing for eight days. Thanks to all the people who called or emailed us with words of support or sightings of Kaya. Thanks Woodinville Patch for posting the story.

We have been notified of a couple of sightings of Kaya near Leota Junior High: one on 12/23 around 8:30 pm and one early this morning (12/24) in the same area. We searched that area today with no luck, but we know that she is still alive. Anyone who lives in that nighborhood, please be on the lookout for her. If you see her, please call the Larson family at 425-488-2562.

A Woodinville family is searching for their dog missing since noon on Saturday. Here is the email that was forwarded to Patch:

Sending this to everyone we know in the Woodinville area…Please forward.

Our dog, Kaya, escaped out of our fenced yard and has been missing since noon yesterday (12/22/12). We live in the Cottage Lake, Mack Elementary School area. She could be anywhere by now. She is a chihuahua/Italian greyhound mix…meaning she’s small and fast…and also very wet and cold. Please be on the look-out for her. She is very shy and may not come to you if you call her name. She’s wearing a pink/purple collar with a name/number tag and a King County license tag. Please pray for her safe return. Our boys are heart-broken right now.

Thanks – Sue and Rob Larson, Jonah, Trevor and Casey

Border Collies are crazy smart. I had a Border mix that loved to boss me around. I tried to explain traffic signals to him, but he wouldn’t listen. There were times when I would be halfway across the street only to find myself being dragged backwards to the safety of the sidewalk. He wouldn't let me cross the street until all the cars coming from any direction had stopped. I would love to hear the whole story about your Border Collie locking your Lab outside the gate.
