The ACT Theatre is bringing a unique dramatic reading experience to Sammamish, “The Pitmen Painters.”  Sammamish citizens who attend and participate
in this event can expect an interesting, engaging performance and discussion.

Volunteers Needed To Perform the Reading

Sammamish residents looking for a fun, interactive experience are encouraged to volunteer as readers. No
experience is necessary, and no rehearsals are required. Interested individuals can contact the ACT Theatre to volunteer at kristina.sutherland@acttheatre.org.

About “The Pitmen Painters”

Heralded in London and on Broadway, this new
play by the Tony Award-winning writer of Billy
Elliot, Lee Hall, is based on a triumphant true story. A group of miners in Northern England taking an art appreciation class start experimenting with painting and soon build an astonishing body of work that makes them the unlikeliest of art world sensations. An arresting and hilarious salute to the power of individual expression and the collective spirit, The Pitmen Painters is a
deeply moving and timely look at art, class and politics.

The program will feature readings of selected scenes followed by a moderated conversation with the performers and the audience.  This event was created especially for Sammamish under the ACT Theatre’s community
outreach program.

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
