Musicians Wanted for National Music Day June 21 in Downtown Issaquah

The Downtown Issaquah Association is promoting live music at local businesses June 21 in Olde Town and Gilman Village and several designated spots outside.

Issaquah is making music on Friday, June 21, 2013, to celebrate National Music Day.

National Music Day is a day when people around the world celebrate the importance of music in our lives through free, open and accessible events. The event is celebrated in more than 450 cities and 100 countries.

In Issaquah, musicians will take to the streets in Olde Town and Gilman Village.

In addition to the several venues that host live music every Friday night, merchants will bring live music into their venues for the night. Bands will also play at several designated spots outside.

The Downtown Issaquah Association is inviting everybody who plays an instrument — school bands, symphonies, bands and solo musicians to play for National Music Day.

Musicians must sign up for a time slot, dependent on availability. All lyrics must be approved for family-friendly content.

Musicians are not paid, but can they can sell merchandise, such as T-shirts and CDs.

The Downtown Issaquah Association is also signing up guitarists for a National Music Day guitar flash mob on the steps of City Hall.
