Jim Young has been appointed chair of the Virginia Mason Health System and Virginia Mason Medical Center Boards of Directors. His two-year term began on Jan. 1, 2013.
Young, who retired from accountantcy Grant Thornton LLP in 2007, is also the current board president for the Issaquah Highlands Community Association, board treasurer for LifeCenter Northwest, and current board treasurer and immediate past board chair for Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.
Young joined the Virginia Mason Board in 2005. He serves as a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee, Compensation and Benefits Committee, Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Quality Oversight Committee. He chaired the Audit and Compliance Committee through 2012 and served as board secretary from 2009 to 2012. Young also served on the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Board of Directors from 1999 to 2007. He was chair of the Benaroya Research Institute board for two years.
Virginia Mason Medical Center, founded in 1920, is a nonprofit regional health care system in Seattle that serves the Pacific Northwest, and operates satellite locations in Issaquah and throughout the Puget Sound area.
