Poll: Should Microsoft Launch Its Own News Service After Split from MSNBC?

The breakup between Microsoft and NBC News was officially announced Sunday evening.

It's official: is selling its 50 percent share in MSNBC.com and plans to launch its own news service this fall.

According to an AP report, the split was announced late Sunday and calls for the website to move its corporate headquarters from Redmond to New York. MSNBC.com will be re-branded as NBCNews.com. Despite being based in New York, the AP story cites an NBC News executive as saying NBCNews.com will keep a "significant staff in the Seattle area."

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
