My I phone is unlocked and has been on T mobile for the past 18 months running on 2G if I am lucky , so would not advise the swap until the new data speed is guaranteed.

This assume that customers can unlock their iPhones with AT&T but that only works if a customer meets the requirement. Nonetheless, it can actually be done even if a customer doesn't meet AT&T's requirements by using UnlockStreak activations for iTunes. It turns iTunes into iPhone unlock software and the unlock is permanent like the one from AT&T.
