The Plateau is going to the Birds (for a cause)!

Going Pink on the Plateau

Seeing any pink flamingos flocking in your neighbors yard later this month?  You might be wondering who's pulled a fast one on your neighbor, or what they did to deserve such a lovely flock of pink feathered creatures to inhabit their front lawn.  No, it isn't our balmy summer weather that has driven the flock onto the plateau, its the Mary, Queen of Peace's MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) group out to help a local charity!
MQP's MOPS group has adopted the Harrington House located in Bellevue near Cross Roads mall as their summer charity recipient.  Flocks of flamingos will start descending on July 15th to a neighbors yard near you!  To get the flock to move, homeowners will need to donate to Harrington House & designate the next yard they inhabit.

The Harrington House provides transitional housing with supportive services to eight women, 18 years and older, who are pregnant and/or parenting and homeless. Located in Bellevue, near the Crossroads Mall area, the facility is an attractive, two-story house with eight resident bedrooms, and a manager’s office area.

Residents may stay up to one year to allow for long-term stability, skill development, and long-lasting change.  Residents meet weekly with the case manager to review their goals and progress. In addition, residents attend weekly parenting classes every Thursday to build the bond between mother and child.  Residents will work together to learn trust and will self-monitor each other as they learn new life skills and work on a transition to permanent housing.

If you'd like more information, please see the MOPS website for more information on the project for Harrington House.
