Celebrate the Fourth of July all Over the Puget Sound

Here's a roundup of the many different places to enjoy Fourth of July celebrations come Monday.

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and there are plenty of different places to check out some fireworks and enjoy family-friendly events. Here’s a roundup of several local celebrations.

Seattle:

Family Fourth at Lake Union: The 2011 edition of this Seattle tradition kicks off at noon on Monday, July 4. Enjoy family activities, entertainment and food vendors throughout Gasworks Park. The evening caps off with a stunning fireworks show at 10:00 p.m. For more information, check out the website.

Kenmore:

Fourth of July Fireworks Show: Kenmore fireworks show from Log Boom Park starts at 10:00 p.m. on Monday night. Parking is available at several nearby locations, and a few vendors will be on hand selling food and other fun items.

Edmonds:

An Edmonds Kind of Fourth: The Edmonds event starts with a 5K run through downtown at 10:00 a.m., a children’s parade at 11:30 a.m., followed by the main parade at noon, and fun games and entertainment throughout the day. The event concludes with a fireworks show at dusk. For more information, check out the website.

Near Gig Harbor:

Destiny Harbor Tours Fourth of July: Want to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday by sea? Then check out Gig Harbor based Destiny Harbor Tours for their 2011 Fourth of July cruise. Departing from Gig Harbor, there are two sea tours available. During the day, the cruise takes you right into the action of Tacoma's Freedom Fair air show. Bellevue:

Bellevue’s Family Fourth: Bellevue's long-running event features live music, kids events, food and refreshments, and concludes with the Eastside’s biggest fireworks show just a little past 10:00 p.m. For more information, check out the website.

Kirkland:

Kirkland’s big summertime bash on the Fourth of July is based at Marina Park. Activities include a kid’s parade at 11:30 a.m., the 12th annual old-fashioned patriotic parade at noon, the Rotary Club of Kirkland’s “Duck Dash” at 3 p.m., and the spectacular fireworks show at 10:15 p.m. For more information, check out the website.

University Place:

The Steilacoom Chamber of Commerce once again opens Lafayette Street to the public for the daylong Fourth of July Celebration. The event will feature a street fair, beer garden, Steilacoom Tribal Museum, a family street fair, and finally, a fireworks show over Puget Sound that starts at 10 p.m.

Tacoma:

Freedom Fair: On the Fourth of July, after three days of events and festivities, finally, the big event all along the Ruston Way waterfront. Join in all day on the Fourth of July for Freedom Fair, featuring all the usual Fourth of July activities, air shows, great food, vendors, exhibits, rides, and events. Freedom Fair is the South Sound’s biggest annual event and ends with the Northwest's biggest firework show over Puget Sound. The fireworks show begins at 10:10 pm and will include shells ranging from three to ten inches in diameter. The height each shell reaches after firing varies depending on size, with the largest reaching a height of almost a quarter of a mile before bursting. For more information, check out the website.

Sammamish:

Fourth on the Plateau: Sammamish’s annual Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 6:00 p.m. on Monday night with live music, kid’s games and more at the . The evening culminates in a fireworks show just past 10:00 p.m. For more information, check out the website.

Redmond:

Derby Days: For those who wish to see fireworks in Redmond, Derby Days offers its annual display on Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 p.m. at Redmond City Hall campus. For more information, check out the website.
