Father's Day Gifts for the Modern Dad

The days of neckties and Old Spice are long gone. Here are some cool ideas for Father's Day rounded up from the Web.

Dads around here, according to my informal research, rarely wear neckties. So what to get the modern Dad with only two days left to shop? We did some web-crawling to find some fatherly coolness.

  • Wired.com offers some interesting options, both for geeky guys and luddites. Is your favorite Dad a kid at heart? He might enjoy taking on the kids with a Nerf Super Soaker Lightning Storm Water Blaster (available at Toys 'R Us in Bellevue).
  • If your favorite Dad is a TV fan, Roku and Hulu have teamed up to offer a package for $79.99 (including shipping) that gives Dad Roku teamed up with six months of Hulu Plus.
  • Best Buy is offered unadvertised (well except that they advertised they were offering unadvertised specials) for Dads and Grads in stores through June 17.
  • If your favorite Dad is outdoorsy, why not give the gift that keeps giving for a whole year--an annual Discover Pass. Team up the $30 pass with a cool local hiking guide by Craig Romano and some hand-made "hike anywhere you want" coupons from the kids, and you have a great summer ahead. As a bonus, the Discover Pass is now good for two vehicles, so Moms can feel free to "borrow" it to hang out with the kids at Lake Sammamish State Park.
