Shakespeare in the Park

  • Why Go: Relax with family and friends at the popular park in Sammamish with Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" - which will have humor and the issue of mistaken identity.

The Tallboys at Redmond Arts in the Parks

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Friday at
  • Why Go: Nothing says summer quite like the sound of an old-time fiddle. OK, some sunshine probably wouldn't hurt, either. Hopefully both will be present at this Friday’s Arts in the Parks performance, which features the sounds of The Tallboys, a Seattle-based old time string band. First-Annual Lamb Kabob-Off

  • Where/When: Noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at in Redmond
  • Why Go: Cooking competitions might be fun to watch, but they're even better when the observers get to be the judges. This Sunday Redmond butcher Scott Molyneaux of Bill the Butcher will face off against Liam Spence, executive chef of Lola and the 2011 Seattle Lambassador Chef, in a lamb kabob-making competition. The grill will be fired up at noon, with judging taking place between 4 and 6 p.m. Sliders and other snacks will also be served throughout the afternoon.
  • Pricing: Donations will be accepted for the Experience Talent Camp for Kids

Marymoor Grand Prix Track Bicycle Racing

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Marymoor Park, near Redmond.
  • Why Go: If you like watching speedy people on two wheels, head on over. You'll be able to see national track bicycle champions as well as former and future Olympic stars. There's a grassy area where you can enjoy food, while you watch cyclists speed by.
  • Pricing: $5 per person and those age 16 and under are free.

Cool Carnivorous Plants

  • Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday at in Woodinville
  • Why Go: Who doesn’t want to sit around with an expert and talk about meat eating plants? Jerry Addington from Courting Frogs Nursery will talk about the unusual world of insect eating plants. The talk is geared toward children but all ages are welcome.
  • Pricing: Free
