New Year's: What's Open, What's Closed in Sammamish

The holiday falls on Sunday, so some agencies and services observe a holiday on Monday.

Happy New Year! Jan. 1 falls on a Sunday this year, and the federal holiday is being observed on Monday. Here's what you need to know to get around on Monday.

If you are traveling on this weekend, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. Be sure to check traffic and weather conditions along Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 at Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

  • Garbage Pickup (both Waste Management and Allied Waste): Normal schedule next week.
  • United States Postal Service: closed Monday, Jan. 2. No mail delivery that day.
  • : On Jan. 1, the Sammamish store will closed, and closed on Monday, Jan. 2. The liquor store in Issaquah at 1175 NW Gilman Blvd will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • : All King County libraries will be closed Sunday, Jan. 1.They will be open normal hours on Monday, Jan. 2.
  • : Closed Monday, Jan 2.
  • Schools: Both Lake Washington and Issaquah school districts are on winter break through Monday. Classes resume Tuesday, Jan. 3.
