Oregon Bus Crash Claims Life of Patch Blogger, Others with Washington Ties

Among the victims were a Spanaway man and a Korean couple with relatives in Bothell, while a college student from Bellevue is feared dead.

, of Spanaway, a frequent contributor to Lakewood-JBLM Patch who owned and managed a mobile home park near Joint Base Lewis-McChord was among those killed in the Oregon bus crash that claimed the lives of nine people, including several with ties to western Washington, according to published reports.

Also killed in the crash were:

  • Yong Ho Lee, 75, of Lynnwood, died in the Sunday crash on Interstate 84 near Pendleton, her son told The Seattle Times. Lee operated convenience stores with her husband, Se Chong Lee, north of Seattle before retiring several years ago, said her son, John Lee.
  • A Korean couple with ties to Bothell, identified Wednesday as Oun Hong Jung, 67, and his wife, Joong Wha Kim, 63. The couple had been staying with relatives in Bothell, according to The Associated Press.

And feared dead, according to the Seattle Times, was Richard Sohn, a 19-year-old college student from Bellevue.

A young college student who recently graduated from Newport High School, Sohn is feared dead by those close to him, according to published reports.

According to the Seattle Times, Sohn, a 19-year-old Seattle Pacific University sophomore from Bellevue, is feared dead by his friends after the Sunday crash in Eastern Oregon near Pendleton.

While Sohn's name is not listed among those confirmed dead in the crash, according to the Times and KING 5 news, his friends and family say he was on the bus. His parents, Michael and Rachel Sohn, were injured in the crash.

Sohn aspired to be a filmmaker and he posted short comedy videos on YouTube, according to the published reports.
