In preparation for power restoration, PSE asks that customers who have overhead distribution lines serving their homes make sure there is no damage to the weatherhead – the roof-mounted pole-like structure where the electrical service enters their home – that belongs to them. If customers do discover damage to their weatherhead, PSE cannot legally restore power until the damage has been repaired by a licensed electrician. Once those repairs have been completed and if the neighborhood has power, the customer should call 1-888-225-5773 and PSE will dispatch a service crew to make permanent connections and restore power once those repairs have been completed.

Original story, Jan. 21, 10:30 am:

Despite a new and damaging storm Saturday morning, Jan. 21, with wind gusts of 45 miles per hour, Puget Sound Energy said its crews continued their work to restore power to customers who have been out of service due to this week’s snow and ice storms.

As of about 10:30 Saturday morning, more than 1,100 customers in Sammamish and more than 4,000 in Issaquah remained out of power, according the the PSE Service Alert Map--. Meanwhile, a wind advisory for the area has been lifted, while an urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21.

On Saturday morning, 188 power line crews, along with crew coordinators and damage assessors--nearly 900 people--are in Thurston, Pierce and King counties making repairs and restoring power, the utility said in a news release on its website.

With more power line crews coming from out of state to help with the restoration effort, there will be 200 crews available and assisting with the effort on Saturday.

As of 6 a.m., approximately 205,000 customers were without power. Since early Wednesday, PSE crews have restored power to more than 253,000 customers in Western Washington.

Crews already have restored a significant amount of the damaged transmission power lines that now are delivering electricity to 50 substations.

Given the magnitude of the damage caused by this week’s storms, compounded by the possibility of more damage caused by the high winds and wind gusts expected this weekend, PSE predicts areas will remain out of power Monday and Tuesday.

Additional crews from as far away as California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Montana and Alaska, in addition to ones from British Columbia, Oregon and Washington are helping with the restoration effort.

As soon as crews make further headway in completing repairs on damaged equipment, better restoration information will be available to customers.
