Week in Review (Sammamish Style): High School Graduations, Mary Pigott and the Reard House and Candidates File for Council Races

The past seven days were filled with news and events in Sammamish. Here's a look back.

It's hard to believe, in a way, that another week has passed. One good thing about the elapse of seven days, though, is that it gives the opportunity to look back at news and information in Sammamish.

Monday: It's high school graduation season and  held its ceremony on Sunday - with Sammamish Patch posting its report and photographs the day after.

In real estate news, Sammamish Patch real estate columnist Joan Probala talked about how economic and housing reports can differ but it appears, at least, that there is job growth in King County.

The Northwest Multiple Listing Service released its latest data, saying that the median closing price for Sammamish-area homes dropped to $475,000 in May.

Tuesday: Sammamish Patch looked at the new football coach for Eastside Catholic School. He's a Cougar, as in Washington State University.

With days before the graduation, Sammamish Patch posted a YouTube video clip of a senior at that Sammamish school. She had a mentor, supported by the Issaquah Schools Foundation, and she was grateful for the help.

The approves reports for the STEM school, a choice institution which would focus on science, technology, engineering and math.

Wednesday: Father's Day is coming up on June 19 and Kathleen Miller, Sammamish Patch parenting columnist, suggested great ways to tell fathers out there that you care.

It also was a big week for political news, with state Attorney General Rob McKenna announcing that he is making a bid for the governor's office. In Sammamish City Council news, resident Jim Wasnick filed papers to run for a seat.

Thursday: In Sammamish police news, there were reports of drivers being arrested and vandalism.

Sammamish Patch ran its interview with Mary Pigott, a resident who has offered her land on the Tanner property as the possible future home of the historic Reard House.

Friday: An student becomes an Eagle Scout - and Sammamish Patch chats with him.

The period for candidates to file with King County Elections ended on Friday - and many people tossed their hats in the ring to run for a Sammamish City Council seat.

Saturday: The Spartans from Skyline High School held their graduation ceremony on Friday at Safeco Field. A story and photos were posted on Sammamish Patch on Saturday.

They might look like "clown shoes" but Hokas, designed in France, are gaining fans, Edmonds Patch editor Heidi Dietrich wrote in her .

Sunday: Sammamish Patch had two items - a Skyline High School graduation speaker imparted his wisdom on Friday in the form of a rap and a story that the King County Library System won an industry award. The King County Library System operates the .

Also, on Monday, Sammamish Patch will have special articles, looking at homeless students in area districts.

On Sammamish Patch Blogs: Yes, we are grateful for residents who have been penning thoughtful and humorous blog posts on Sammamish Patch. This week, as we like to say, is no different.
