Community Book Study-Teen Resiliency

Last
May and then again in January many in our community heard Dr. Chap Clark speak
to the topic of building resiliency in teenagers.  In Chap’s book, “Hurt
2.0”, he raises the feeling of “systemic abandonment” of many teens today. This
feeling is pervasive even in an age of parents who pour their every waking hour
into the success of their children. What is a parent to do?

April 29th and May 6th
a group of folks will be coming together at Skyline
High School to discuss Chap’s book and begin looking to what actions we might
take individually and corporately as concerned parents and community members.

The Hurt
2.0
study will take place at Skyline High School in Room 2212 from
7:00-8:30 p.m.
on both April 29th and May 6th. Anyone is welcome to come, however,
anyone engaging in the discussion is asked to have read the book prior to the
first session.

Discussion Leader John
LaMunyon is the father of two adult children and has over thirty years’
experience working with teens and young adults in community and church based programs
dedicated to developing healthy and happy human beings.  Currently serving
as the Lead Pastor of Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church, John is also a
participant in Project Hope, a community based coalition slowly forming
to combat the issue of teen suicide in our community.
