FISH & Cougar Mountain Zoo Plan Spring Break Days For Highlands Residents

Tours, hikes, family activities - FREE - at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery, April 10! "Buy One Get One Free" prices for Highlands Residents at Cougar Mountain Zoo, April 12. Enjoy during Spring Break!

Special activities and discounts are being offered to Highlands Residents on April 10th & 12th, being billed as Highlands Days in Issaquah.

Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH) is planning tours, habitat hikes, fish printing, and family centered activities on April 10 to give families a chance to explore during spring break. Cougar Mountain Zoo is offering a “Buy One Get One Free” admission discount to any Highlands resident that visits on April 12. Come down off The Highlands and visit the Hatchery and the Zoo for exploration and fun.

Hatchery events are planned between 10am and 2 pm, April 10. Tours of the inner workings of the hatchery will be at 10, 11, Noon and 1. Habitat hikes will be at 11 and 1. Participants will take a ¼ mile walk along Issaquah Creek and learn about what makes a stream a home for salmon. Child friendly activities will take place in the Watershed Science Center and will include painting a real salmon and imprinting the design on paper for children to take home. There will be microscopes to look at pond water to find the tiny critters and bugs that live in the creek and demonstrations of the salmon life cycle. This event is free and open to all.

Exciting and informative mini lectures, demonstrations and shows will be held at the zoo throughout the day, April 12th. Visitors will see some of their favorite Zoo Animals in a special setting as they stroll the Zoo Walkways, being led or carried by their Keepers. Observe Lemurs, Wallabies, Macaws, Reindeer and other animals in exciting action. Zoo hours are 9:30 AM to 5 PM.

Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH) is a volunteer and membership based nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the historic Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. Through educational programs in school classrooms and at the hatchery, FISH educates the community about the salmon lifecycle and inspires stewardship of the Puget Sound watershed.
