Our lakes are very productive in terms of supplying ample food sources for both kokanee and sockeye to thrive. So what is causing their decline? What has caused the extinction of the summer and fall runs of the Lake Sammamish kokanee and threatened the winter run? Several issues related to human impact on the environment are to blame: urbanization, introduction of non-native fish and climate change.
