Memorial Day 2013: What's Open, What's Closed

The federal holiday honors the memory of men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 27; here is a list of what’s open and what government offices are closed.

If you are traveling today, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. You can expect heavy traffic along I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

City Halls are closed Monday. They will reopen Tuesday May 28.
Issaquah and Lake Washington school districts: Closed Monday, classes will resume May 28.
King County government
: Closed.
King County Library System
 is closed today.
King County Metro
: Sunday Schedule.
King County Transfer Stations (Garbage)
: Open. Sound Transit: Sunday Schedule.
State of Washington
: Closed.
Washington State Ferries
: All routes will operate on a holiday schedule.
Federal government
 (including the U.S. Postal Service): Closed
Banks
: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.
Express delivery companiesFedEx and UPS will be open.
Garbage Service: Regular recycling and garbage service on normal schedule.
State Run Liqour Stores: The liqour store at 1175 N.W.Gilman Boulevard in Issaquah will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
