NWMLS Launches New Mobile App for Real Estate Brokers

Finding info on a home you're interested in while out looking with your Realtor has just become a lot simpler.

Just in time for , Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) unveiled its first mobile application this week, enabling brokers to quickly navigate the MLS system software (Matrix) using their iPad, iPhone, and Android devices, with a BlackBerry version expected to be added soon.

The NWMLS Mobile App provides easy, on-the-go access to the MLS system and is fully integrated with each user’s account.

“This new tool allows the MLS broker members to search for listings around them by using their device’s GPS, or by simply searching on the fly using a variety of search fields,” said NWMLS chair Diedre Haines, who is Coldwell Banker Bain’s regional managing broker for Snohomish County.

Along with robust searching functions, the new mobile-friendly app allows quick access to an array of MLS resources and information.  Listed properties are displayed in a mobile friendly view. Brokers can also connect to the mapping, navigation and email services on their mobile device. A “spotter” feature enables previewing information on nearby listings.  While touring or meeting with a client, the MLS member-subscriber will be able to view previously saved searches and view or email their listings.

With the searching functions, brokers can sort properties for their buyers and sellers using a variety of criteria, such as listing status (e.g., active or contingent), property type, price and style. The App can also retrieve up to 12 months of historical data.

By clicking an “Open House” symbol, the broker can uncover properties that are scheduled for public open houses or broker-only previews.  Once properties are pinpointed on a map, the user can touch various locations to zoom and view more details about a selected listing.

The new Mobile App also allows access to the user’s contacts (and any previously saved information for a particular client) as well as the Northwest MLS roster of member offices and brokers.

Only members of Northwest MLS will have access to the tool, which is offered to its members as an optional subscription. MLS officials said the eagerly anticipated tool was developed following a series a user advisory groups and broker feedback. Other mobile possibilities are being researched, they noted.

Northwest Multiple Listing Service, owned by its member real estate firms, is the largest full-service MLS in the Northwest. Its membership includes more than 22,000 real estate brokers. The organization, based in Kirkland, Wash., currently serves 21 counties in Washington state.
