The Savvy Gardener Workshop wil be held this Saturday June 2 from 10 am - 2:30 pm at the Sammamish Plateau Water & Sewer District office, 1510 228th Avenue SE in Sammamish.

The Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District and Cascade Water Alliance invite you to attend a Savvy Gardener Workshop to gain great ideas for your garden!   The workshop will be held this Saturday, June 2 from 10 am to 2:30 pm at the District office at 1510 - 228th Avenue SE in Sammamish.  Three seminars will be offered free of charge to area residents.

Carey Thornton of Seattle Tilth will present “Drip Irrigation for the Home Gardener” from 10 am to 11:30 am.  If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to install drip irrigation in your yard, this seminar is for you!  Seattle Tilth inspires and educates people to garden organically and conserve natural resources.

Want to have less lawn and more garden space?  Attend Greg Rabourn’s seminar “Goodbye Lawn, Hello Garden” from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm.  Greg works for King County Natural Resources and Parks and has coordinated native plant salvage projects over the years, so be prepared for expert advice on how to include native plants in your landscape. Greg is a host of the “Yard Talk” gardening show on King County Television.

The highlight of the day will be a presentation by Marianne Binetti called “Summer Beauty with Sedums and Succulents” from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.  You will learn which attractive succulents do best in our area and how to properly care for them. You’ll also receive lots of great ideas for plant combinations and design strategies.  Marianne has a degree in horticulture from Washington State University and writes a syndicated gardening column that runs in over a dozen newspapers each week including the Tacoma News Tribune and The Daily Olympian. She has written or co-written 10 gardening books including "Easy Answers for Great Gardens" and her latest book "Edible Gardening for Washington and Oregon."

We will be giving away a Marianne Binetti book at the end of each seminar, so come and attend all three seminars at the workshop for a chance to win!
