Water theft is against the law!

Please report any hydrant tampering to the District.

Our customers pay the price for water loss due to theft from hydrants.  Persons tampering with hydrants can also contaminate the drinking water supply.  If you observe anyone other than water or fire district personnel connecting to or opening a fire hydrant, please report it to the District at (425) 392-6256 as soon as possible! We are available 24 hours a day to take your call.

We charge contractors for any water they use from District hydrants.  However, all contractors must obtain a District permit before using any hydrant, and they are required to call the District daily before pulling any water.  If see a contractor connecting their equipment to a hydrant, please call our office immediately and we will investigate to be sure they have the proper authorization.  When you call, please include as much information as possible, including the address or cross streets, vehicle license number and description of the vehicle and the individuals involved. Include vehicle color, logos, and type such as tanker trucks, hydroseeders, sweepers or trailers with tanks. Please leave a contact phone number where we can call you if we need further information.  Our District vehicles are marked with our agency logos and Eastside Fire and Rescue vehicles also have their logo on their trucks.

Never approach or try to block vehicles, but do call us right away!  District staff will be dispatched to investigate the situation. We will prosecute anyone tampering with hydrants and fine unauthorized users. Theft and contamination of public water supplies are serious offenses and violators will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
