The room was full at Eastridge Church as the SAMMIs were awarded Friday night to community members in nearly a dozen categories, from Courage to the Arts.
Master of Ceremony Chris Cashman kept the mood light with quips and gags, and several contests throughout the evening, and sponsors paired up with past award recipients to present the 2012 awards.
But, we won't keep you waiting any longer. The winners of the 2012 SAMMI Awards are as follows (click on their names to read about the nominees in each category):
Spirit of Sammamish:
Awardees thanked their families and friends, and said they were inspired by the stories of their fellow finalists.
The SAMMI foundation also unveiled its new logo and delivered on its promise of an entertaining evening, featuring music by the Sammamish Symphony Quartet during the reception before the ceremony and preformances by cheerleaders from Eastlake and Skyline high schools, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble from Skyline, and the Eastlake Dance Team.
Hundreds of people turned out for the event, which took the volunteer help of dozens to put on.
But the end of the evening is only the start of next year's SAMMI Awards, nominations are being accepted now for the SAMMI 2013 Awards.
